The Haunting in
Connecticut
The haunting in
Connecticut is based on a true story about a boy with cancer that has to move
to a new house with his family. The bodies have symbols and letters carved in
and their eyelids also missing. The house is stranded away from main
civilisation is the most obvious way to show there’s going to be something
their. Only the boy with cancer sees what the past was in this house and starts
to see things and have nightmares more often the more he sees the worse his
condition gets. The boy becomes possessed exactly the same as the boy from the
past family that lived there. The family try to help their son but he just
retaliates and gets worse, and as he does the eldest sister starts to see
things herself but thinks nothing of it. The lights and all electrics that
night go haywire. Everything in the house goes berserk and the boy is
critically ill. We see what happened to the boy in the past during a ritual.
The boy is rushed to hospital but escapes back to the house with an axe trying
to free the bodies buried in the house. He sets fire to everything so the boy
from the past can leave his body. The mother runs in to try save him and
firemen rescue them. The boy is dying. He sees the boy that possessed him
before being brought back to life as a thank you.
This is a thriller
because it includes suspense when he is starting to see the flashes of the past
family and when he returns with the axe we think he is going to kill his own
family. The dark and gloomy feel to the film creates a feeling of wonder and we
ask questions as for the main part of the film we are unsure on what the real
story is. The illness of the boy is worsened by the possession of the boy from
the past trying to get him to release what has been done before.
