Dexter Opening Sequence
The opening sequence to Dexter is a thriller because there is mystery and suspense. There are close ups to build mystery as we never see his face until the end of the sequence. We can tell that the main character is a perfectionist as he takes time in what he is doing and we see him wrapping floss round his finger in a particular way.
Dexter is a forensics scientist that kills serial killers for the things that they do wrong. He looks at blood spatter patterns in different cases, in the title sequence there is different ways we see blood as his name is written in blood effect, when he is cooking his breakfast there is blood from the meat and then when he is shaving he cuts himself and we see blood drop in the sink.

Silence of the lambs Spoiler
Silence of the Lambs
Silence of the lambs is about a man that
likes to kill people to use their body parts for different things whether that
is his furniture or his food. A detective is set on his case to try and lure
him in. In doing so ‘Hannibal’ is most intrigued in her and tries to get into
her head to make her scared of him. When
they meet he speaks very calmly he is given privileges for his cooperation. Hannibal
gives Clarice a shed but he requests that he is moved. In the shed she finds a
victim strung up and returns to Hannibal for questioning. He gives details
about a man doing the same as he is. Hannibal is moved and manages to escape
from the police with a pen unlocking his cuffs; he kills the police that were
holding him. Clarice who was trying to find out more about Hannibal hears of
his escape and goes to find him, in doing so she finds Buffalo Bill who has a
kidnapped girl. She saves the girl and takes in the man she found thinking it
was the real Hannibal she becomes a higher rank in her work but the receives a
call from Hannibal telling her that he is still alive and about to eat another
victim. He is in the Bahamas hiding where he cannot be traced but obviously he
does not tell her this. Silence of the
lambs has a sequel ‘The Red Dragon’
This thriller contains many questions
within the film and within the viewer as the story is fast paced. The ending to
the film gives the feeling of what’s going to happen next. Will Hannibal go
after Clarice? Or will he leave her as she potentially set him free. The
suspense in the film comes when Clarice is talking to Hannibal, as we never
know if he will lash out. Hannibal is very calmly spoken so it gives an ere
effect Anthony Hopkins who plays
Hannibal also helps give the effect as he looks just as scary as his character
is portrayed.
Spoiler for Haunting In Conneticut
The Haunting in
Connecticut
The haunting in
Connecticut is based on a true story about a boy with cancer that has to move
to a new house with his family. The bodies have symbols and letters carved in
and their eyelids also missing. The house is stranded away from main
civilisation is the most obvious way to show there’s going to be something
their. Only the boy with cancer sees what the past was in this house and starts
to see things and have nightmares more often the more he sees the worse his
condition gets. The boy becomes possessed exactly the same as the boy from the
past family that lived there. The family try to help their son but he just
retaliates and gets worse, and as he does the eldest sister starts to see
things herself but thinks nothing of it. The lights and all electrics that
night go haywire. Everything in the house goes berserk and the boy is
critically ill. We see what happened to the boy in the past during a ritual.
The boy is rushed to hospital but escapes back to the house with an axe trying
to free the bodies buried in the house. He sets fire to everything so the boy
from the past can leave his body. The mother runs in to try save him and
firemen rescue them. The boy is dying. He sees the boy that possessed him
before being brought back to life as a thank you.
This is a thriller
because it includes suspense when he is starting to see the flashes of the past
family and when he returns with the axe we think he is going to kill his own
family. The dark and gloomy feel to the film creates a feeling of wonder and we
ask questions as for the main part of the film we are unsure on what the real
story is. The illness of the boy is worsened by the possession of the boy from
the past trying to get him to release what has been done before.

Most of these words are opposites and are now seen as stereotypes. Back in the 60's women gained their rights but before this time the lists explaining the males and females would have been a "normal" description.
